FOOD FIGHT
EASTER EGG: If you enter 7 backspaces followed by JAH when you get a high score, my monogram (rather than my initials) will appear (picture #3). {Jonathan Hurd}
HIDDEN MESSAGE: "hi Jon" is coded as graphics in the program (picture #1). It's currently unknown whether or not they can be triggered to appear onscreen. {Scott Stilphen}
Its possible (albeit rarely) to earn an extra life from the instant replay feature. If you die on a level and then finish it completely and get an instant replay, it will replay the level the first time around when you die, but then when the replay gets to your death, the message "Almost Made It!" flashes on the screen and youll get a free life!
The initials for some/all of the programming team are on the high score table (picture #2):
JAH Jonathan Hurd (designer
and programmer)
TW Tom Westberg (hardware design)
RBJ Roland Janbergs (programmer)
BGB Bruce Burns (co-original prototype programmer)
LRD Larry Dennison (hardware design)
PRG Patty Goodson (music)
ROY Roy Groth (sound hardware and f/x)
DEL Dan Ludwig (hardware design)
DOG Darrell Myers (graphics artist)
AYN Art Ng (hardware design and analog circuitry)
EDV Ed Vallee (assisted Dan Ludwig with pcb layout)
MOE - Maurice Vincent (assisted Dan Ludwig with pcb layout)
2 different versions of the full-size cabinet artwork exist; the difference is with Charlie Chuck's shirt. In the original, it's striped (red and white) (picture #4). In the later version, it's red (picture #5).
BUG: Theres a somewhat rare glitch with the instant replay involving the use of peas and the randomness in the spread of the thrown peas. Apparently the replay mechanism doesn't start with the same seed for the random generator and it can cause different outcomes in the instant replay with respect to whether peas thrown by the player hit a chef or whether peas thrown by a chef hit the player (see video).
BUG: The level counter stops at 125 (and the game does get harder past that point).
RUMOR: A bug in the game allows you to get 255 lives.
