MILLIPEDE
EASTER EGG: Programmer Ed Logg coded his last name as graphics in the game (picture #1). In MAME, press F4 and ENTER to show the graphics data. Logg appears in the upper-right corner of the chart (picture #2). Its unknown if this can be trigger to appear onscreen.
HIDDEN MESSAGE: As an anti-piracy protection method, a hidden message is buried within the code, written in Morse code. The code can be found in the ROM at location 1MN on the board (picture #3). When you read the Millipede code with the key code, the secret message built into the game must be translated from International Morse Code. Such a translation of the code reads COPYRIGHT 1982 ATARI.
The initials for the design team are on the high score table (picture #4):
BBM - Brian McGhie (support
programmer)
FXL - Franz Lanzinger (support programmer)
MEC - Mark Cerny (attract mode)
ED - Ed Logg (designer and programmer)
DUG - Doug Snyder (engineer/tech)
DCB - Dona Bailey (support programmer)
DEW - Dave Webienson (hardware support)
DFW - Don Wrightnour (hardware support)
Normally the flower can only be destroyed by a spider or a DDT cloud, but there is a 3rd way. Immediately after killing off the Millipede (and before the next round appears), get under it and hold the fire button down when the next round starts, itll be gone!
Both Millipede (and Centipede) support the use of both a joystick and a trackball.
BUG: If player 2 beats player 1 and both scores are high enough to be on the high score list, neither player can enter initials.
BUG: If player 1 beats player 2 and both scores are high enough to be on the high score list, only player 1 gets to enter initials.
BUG: Occasionally, the second screen (blue millipede) plays twice. Normally it should go: screen 1, screen 2, bee wave, screen 3. But sometimes it goes: screen 1, screen 2, screen 2, bee wave, screen 3. {Dave Giarusso}
