Summer Games

• 2 versions exist!  Atari re-released it on cartridge, 4 years after the disk-based version was released.  Besides having a different title screen (pictures #1 and #3), the cart only allows a max of 3 players (instead of 8).  There’s also no option to record high scores or records (pictures #2 and #4).

• BUG: It’s possible to clear the maximum height in the pole vault event (6.2) by passing under it!  In the practice mode, set the bar to 6.2 and select a low pole grip.  As soon as you plant the pole, push up. Then, when your knees are under the bar, press the fire button.  If your timing is correct, you’ll miss the bar and fall far enough forward so that the vault will count as good.  {CompuClub News, V2N1}.  Once you clear 6.2, the meter counter will become garbled (picture #5).  At 7.6, the graphics become garbled, making it impossible to continue.  {Scott Stilphen}
