SPACE TREK

2 versions exist. The version in MAME and in most (all) upright and table cabinets shows “BARRIER” in the lower-left corner of the screen. However, the flyer for the game shows “SPACE TREK” instead, and features a screen not seen in the game (picture #1).

There's 3 different screens. On the odd-numbered rounds, you get all 3. The first screen shows 6 enemies and a ringed planted that moves diagonally down from the upper-right corner. Every time you shoot one of the enemies, the planet turns into a walker. If you shoot the walker before it turns back into a planet, it’s worth 100 points. Once you shoot all 6 enemies, you get the message “PROCEED TO ENEMY BASE!” and you’ll see a warp sequence to the next screen where you again face 6 enemies, only this time they appear one after the other in a zig-zag pattern. If you shoot all 6 or you’re killed, you’ll start again on the 3rd screen. Now there’s 16 enemies and a large planet in the upper-right corner with a saucer inside it. If you repeatedly shoot the planet underneath the saucer, it will escape to fly around and shoot at you. Once you shoot all the enemies, you’ll start again on the next round. On even-numbered rounds, you won’t see the first screen or the warp sequence. Once you reach round 21, this screen pattern will continue to alternate, even though the round number stops at 21.

There's a maximum of 21 rounds. After completing round 21, it keeps repeating indefinitely. There will also be a maximum of 21 stars along the bottom of the screen (see picture).

The score counter rolls over at 1 million. The maximum high score possible onscreen is 999,900 (see picture).
