There’s 8 different layouts, instead of the 10 found in the original.

There’s a number of compromised differences with this port.   You can’t stand under an apple and hold it; it will start falling as soon as you dig under it.  You also can’t use an apple to partially block a passage.  Standard monsters are called “Badguys” and be 1 of 3 different enemies at any time.  The EXTRA monster is called the Alpha monster, and Alpha monsters are called “Blue Chompers” (which act like a combination between the original digger and Alpha monsters).  There’s no center food items to trigger the appearance of the “Alpha”, nor can they be triggered to appear with every 5,000 points earned.  You can't dig out columns and have them separated by a thin line of dirt.  If you dig an adjacent tunnel, you're basically widening it, and with the screen area being much smaller, it’s sometimes easier to kill all the monsters instead of getting all the cherries.  Also, the diamonds aren't included.  One positive change - you can throw a power ball through an apple.

The score counter rolls at 100,000 points.

BUG: Just before running into a piece of ground, press the FIRE button (dropping the ball) and at the same time push the joystick in the opposite direction.  The ball will remain stuck in the ground until either you reclaim it or a monster comes into contact with it.  {Ronnie Dingman}
